12 Cold Weather Promo Ideas That Really Work

Ah, February. Besides being known for football and valentines, the second month of the year is also one of the coldest for much of the country. With all the snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, it’s an ideal time to take advantage of the many winter-themed promotional products out there. Whether you’re sending gifts to customers or thanking your employees for their hard work, here are a few wintry ideas for your business:

To keep your customers and your employees warm as they travel through ice and snow, consider the Nice N Cozy Fleece Gift Set. In this set, a fleece cap, scarf, and pair of mittens all come in a matching drawstring pouch. Plus, the mittens are actually fingerless gloves with mitten tops! For a non-fleece alternative, try the warmth and coziness of the Hat and Scarf Set.

Large Fluorescent Ice Scraper

Winter and cold weather also mean icy windshields. Ice scrapers are great promotional products, since they are inexpensive for you yet practical and useful for those who receive them. We have lots to choose from, but I’d suggest the Large Fluorescent Ice Scraper for a pop of color while clearing off those windows. Also, the Small Ice Scraper with Visor Clip may not be as big, but this one you can attach to your car visor for convenience.

But who wants to go outside when it’s cold anyway? Give your customers a reason to curl up by the fire with a Sweatshirt Blanket. Like the name says, the blanket is made of a fleece sweatshirt material, and it comes in a variety of colors. If you’re looking for a more budget-conscious option, the All Occasion Blanket is another good choice. Want sleeves with your snuggling? The Snuggle Me Micro Coral Fleece Blanket has giant sleeves as well as a front pocket.

Ghirardelli Gift Set

Another great idea for winter promos is hot chocolate. I love the Ghirardelli Gift Set—you get Ghirardelli cocoa mix, a few squares of Ghirardelli chocolate, and a leather-bound stainless steel thermos to carry your toasty drink wherever you go. For a less costly alternative, consider creating your own hot chocolate gift set by combining Libation Instant Hot Chocolate packets with a colorful mug. You might try the Europa Mug, an elegant-looking 12-ounce cup available in several colors (as well as white). Throw a few packets into each mug and give them to customers and employees. Remember, the mugs will be appreciated long after the cold weather disappears.

Finally, try handing out a few games your customers can play while cooped up inside during snowstorms and freezing temperatures. The Playing Card Set contains two decks of cards as well as a pencil and pad of paper for keeping score. If you want more variety, go with the Lifestyle 7-in-1 Desktop Game Set. A deck of cards, dice, dominoes, and supplies for checkers, chess, backgammon, and cribbage are all included.

With products like these, your customers and employees will make it through the winter—and remember your name as well!

I am soooo ready for winter to be over. I cannot wait till Spring and Summer, and be able to wear my sandals and flip flops. :)

    • Jeff Porretto

You’re ready for Winter to be over?? When did it begin?!? =]

But I agree anyway, I can’t wait to break out the shorts!

    • Rachel

Despite how mild it’s been, I’m ready for winter to be over, too! :) Yay flip flops!

    Rachel,

Often when renting a car, there is no ice-scraper, with the result that when you leave your hotel in the morning you can’t go anywhere until the defrost gets the windshield done. What a waste of 15 minutes!

I wonder if there is a business that caters to travelers that would find placing these in rental cars a useful campaign?

By the way, Ghirardelli chocolate is always useful!

Best invention ever — the ice scraper inside a glove thing. Idk the exact name of it, but I got one for christmas (because I always complain about having to scrape ice off my windows) and am in love with it.

    • Eric

Dove-tailing off of David, here, I’ll fully support the ice scraper for my #1. That’s one thing I don’t want to be without on a winter morning, and if you don’t have one – like you said, sir – you’ve spent 15 minutes of your good time sitting there in the cold, praying those defrosters work as quickly as they possibly can.

Handing them out at conventions in the winter, actually, is a sharp idea, especially for those folks with rental vehicles.

    • Rachel

Great idea, David! It is always a big fear of mine to be stuck with an icy/snowy windshield I can’t see out of and no ice scraper in my car. Any business that could partner up with a car rental service and put ice scrapers in the cars would get a LOT of brand exposure, I’m sure!

Thanks for commenting! And agreed — Ghirardelli chocolate is always a good choice. :)

The hot chocolate set is a great idea! I can’t count how many times I’ve done wintry stuffs, thought about hot chocolate the whole time, only to find that we’ve run out. So you can never have too much!

    Thanks!

    • Rachel

Hot chocolate is always a good thing! And I do always seem to have run out of it whenever I’m in the mood for a hot drink …

Sweatshirt blankets are so cozy! If you have the budget for them, your clients and/or employees will love you several times over. They also work great as fundraising resells!

For those still-kinda-cold-but-warming-up months ahead, I’d suggest handing out hoodies! Comfy sweatshirt while creating brand impressions? That’s a win-win across the board!

    • Rachel

Hoodies are another really great choice! And as you said, they can be worn in more than just the winter months.

Now I really want to pull on a hoodie and snuggle up underneath a sweatshirt blanket … :)

Know what would REALLY help in the winter? A fanny-pack/radio combo!

    • Rachel

      There’s never NOT a good time for a fanny pack/radio combo! ;)

  6. Candice J.

I totally agree! Lets be honest here, the fanny-pack/radio combo is great for any season!

  7. Jen

The Snuggle Me Micro Coral Fleece Blanket is my favorite cold weather pick! I love lounging on the couch all wrapped up in the blanket, but if I have to use my hands for anything like food/drink or my laptop, the blanket just doesn’t do the trick. Genius idea adding the sleeves to the blanket. These are all great winter promo ideas Rachel!

    • Rachel

Hooray for the Snuggle Me Blanket! The sleeves are definitely useful. :) Glad you liked the list, Jen!

  8. Amy Swanson

Alright, I hate to be “that” person, but during the winter months it seems like I go through hand sanitizer faster than anything. I’m always grabbing two or three when I see companies handing them out. You can never have enough ;)

    Great suggestions, Rachel!

    • Rachel

Hand sanitizer is another great idea! Hand lotion would be a good one too, seeing as it’s so dry in the winter. Thanks, Amy! :)
