You might have been aware that Quality Logo Products offers a selection of over 23,000 promotional items. What you might not have known is that over 550 of those products are customizable water bottles.

I expect your reaction to be: “Holy guacamole! That’s a frick-ton of water bottles! Where do I start?!”

Don’t worry. I’m here to help you make the first choice in your promotional water bottle journey. The first choice you’ll have to make is what type of water bottle will be best suited for your giveaway. Below are short descriptions of and uses for the four different general styles of water bottles we carry.

stainless steel bike bottle

Stainless steel doesn't have to be boring.

Metal Water Bottles. This category includes both aluminum and stainless steel bottles. While you could argue that one material is better than another, they both have the same level of appeal when it comes to being a promotional item. Since these reusable bottles have the longest shelf life, they are best used to promote companies or brands as a whole, and not specific events. The downside is that if dropped, they can dent.

Great uses: General promotion, anniversaries, grand openings, wedding favors.

Plastic Sport Bottles. The least expensive option of all the promotional water bottles, these bottles are nice and flexible and all have easy openings to get water quickly. Plastic bottles are wonderful for special events, especially if they are for a charitable cause. Sport bottles, however, can start to warp if hot liquid is placed inside of them. [Note: I don’t know why you would put hot liquid in a water bottle, but stranger things have happened in the world.]

Great uses: Company picnics, fundraiser walks, special events.

Purple Varsity Acrylic Tumbler

Acrylic tumblers come lots of bright, fun colors.

Acrylic Tumblers. Even though many of the tumblers on our site are better suited as travel mugs for coffee, there are a handful of bright and colorful tumblers that are just perfect for holding water. The dual wall insulation in acrylic tumblers means that water will stay cooler longer, and not condense on the side of the tumbler. Many come with straws which keep spilling to a minimum. These should also not be used with hot liquids.

Great uses: Employee rewards, resells for fundraising, general promotion.

Polycarbonate Bottles. Not all polycarbonate bottles feature a screw off lid, but most do. Polycarbonate is plastic, but it is harder and inflexible, unlike the sport bottles. These bottles are ideal if they are going to be in the middle of the action, as they don’t shatter, dent, or puncture from normal use. They are the ideal bottle for athletic events.

Great uses: Fitness events, athletic teams, resells as fan merchandise, tradeshow giveaways.

Very thorough post, Mandy! I had never thought of all the different types of water bottles we have here :)

I like the acyclic tumblers the most. I find it easier to drink water throughout the day if there’s a straw compared to me picking up the water bottle, twisting off a cap, and drinking. Who knew drinking water could be so strenuous?!

First world problems, eh? At least your water drinking is at peace now. :P

When I started going through our products for this post, I was almost overwhelmed with the amount of water bottle choices. But once you know what you want, it makes the search so much easier!

I don’t know if I could pick a favorite! I think I own and use one of each! I use this guy every day here at QLP!

I second the “Acrylic Tumblers” motion. I got one of those as a stocking stuffer a Christmas or so ago, wondering when in heck I’d use it. Turns out, pretty often! It’s actually nice to keep in the car for my commute because the lid screws shut, and I don’t have to worry about spilling on myself because there’s a straw. Plus, it’s eco-friendly and spares us from flying through disposable plastic bottles. Win-win.

Thanks for getting this comparison together, Mandy! It’s really helpful.

Good point about the aluminum and/or metal bottles — they really are best for promoting a brand name versus a specific event. That’s not to say they’re not suitable for any occasion, but companies should maximize their potential since they last so long (much longer than the actual event they’re promoting).

Have you seen these beauties since we added them? They’re oh-so-stylish. Although, they kind of remind me of shampoo bottles because of their shape! Haha…

The Mood Cycle Bottle is one of my favorites on our site — I love color-changing products, though, so I may be biased. ;)

Ooo, I had not seen the Iyse bottles before! Those are very stylish, though yes, they kind of look like shampoo bottles! Hey, if any salon is looking to imprint on a water bottle, they just found a must-have.

And yeah, metal/aluminum bottles are going to last (basically) forever, so it’s a great idea that if you have the money, to just order a ton and hand them out at ALL events and tradeshows throughout the years.

Great rundown, Mandy! I didn’t know that acrylic tumblers were insulated and therefore didn’t sweat–that’s a great thing that unfortunately my aluminum bottle doesn’t do. The shape of aluminum bottles is more my style, though. :) Anyway, this is a super helpful summary of all the different water bottle options. Thanks for the insight! :)

I have different bottles for different things. I use my polycarbonate one here at work, I have a stainless steel Eco Canteen for the gym, and I use an acrylic tumbler at home when I’m just chilling.

It all depends on your style preferences and what capacity you’ll be using your bottles for!

Is it safe or recommended to drink warm liquids in metal bottles?

Any “aftertaste”?

Mandy Kilinskis

If the metal water bottles are insulated, i.e. dual walled, then yes! You can put warm liquids in there. However, if there’s only a single wall, then the outside will take on the temperature of the liquid inside and you risk burning yourself.

I’ve personally never had a problem with a metalic aftertaste, but there a great guide about how to remove the taste from your bottles. Now, if you want to avoid it all together, then maybe you’d like to invest in a plastic or acrylic bottle.

“Holy guacamole! That’s a frick-ton of water bottles! Where do I start?!”

That was pretty much my reaction, except I replaced “frick-ton” with “frak-ton.” ;)

Seriously, we’ve got so many customizable water bottles on our site that it’s tough to decide which one is the right one for a given promotion. But this post is a great place to start.

Nice breakdown here, Mandy!

Personally, I’m a fan of the metal water bottles. They’re just so sleek and eye-catching.

Nice! I should’ve gone frak-ton. Next time.

I’m definitely a fan of both metal and polycarbonate water bottles. I guess that I just prefer a little bit of durability in my life. Sometimes my water drinking gets extreme. You know, as extreme as water drinking can get.

Nice rundown Mandy! I love my Acrylic Tumbler with the straw! I find that I drink much more water using a straw throughout the day! =)

You mean like a kiddie pool’s worth in about a month? ;)

But that’s great! Lots of water is good for you!

This is a great water bottle rundown Mandy! I liked how you gave examples of different activities the water bottles can be used for.

The acrylic tumblers are my favorite, they come in the best colors and are very durable. I want one sooo bad!

Acrylic tumblers are so nice. The one I have is clear (boo!), so I would love to get a cool colored one.

Note: If anyone is looking for a Christmas gift for Jen or me…
