Character-Driven Advertising Quiz: How Well Do You Know Your Cereals?

Cartoons were king when we were kids, not content. And in our favorite footed pajamas we would watch Saturday morning cartoons while munching away on our favorite cereal. Sure, the flavor was important, but not as important as the character on the front of the box or in the commercials.

Whether you were a fan of the Rice Krispie brothers, Snap, Crackle, and Pop; or Frosted Flakes’ Tony the Tiger, it didn’t matter. While you were eating that bowl of sugary deliciousness you were happy and content. Today’s kids aren’t as fortunate (or more fortunate depending on how you look at the issue) because of stricter guidelines for advertising to children.

Advertising controversy is not the point of this blog, though. I want to know if you can pair the characters I’ve listed below with the cereals they represented! You know, the cereals our younger selves enjoyed before sugar content, fat, fiber, and carbohydrates became top priorities. See how many cereal spokescharacters you know and write your answers in the comments section. The winner receives bragging rights to acing this character-driven cereal quiz. And…GO!

  1. Sonny the Cuckoo Bird
  2. The Flintstones
  3. Chip the Wolf
  4. Cornelius the Rooster
  5. Count Chocula
  6. Tony the Tiger
  7. Franken Berry
  8. BuzzBee the Bee
  9. Toucan Sam
  10. Dig ‘em Frog
  11. Sunny the Sun
  12. Little Mikey
  13. Sugar Bear
  14. Trix Rabbit
  15. BONUS: Wendell

**Please note:  Comments will be withheld for an hour or so to give everyone a chance at a fair guess, so be patient. Remember, it’s considered cheating if you use a search engine to look them up. And everyone knows that cheaters don’t deserve bragging rights!
