Once we get over our food comas from Thanksgiving, it’s time to start planning December promotions! Snow is still welcome, goodwill is high, and the gift-giving season is in full swing!
December is the perfect time to thank your employees for a great year of service or your customers for sticking by you for so many years. Nothing says “Thanks for everything” like a corporate branded tumbler or duffel bag. Your recipients will appreciate the gift and use it frequently, which only reinforces your brand impressions!
And once you’ve taken care of your employees and clients, there are still plenty of days leftover in December for you to throw a fantastic promotion!
Let’s see what else is happening in December:

At first glance, you can see that there are plenty of food-centric awareness days and weeks this month. On National Cookie Day you could have a cookie exchange in the office with your employees. Have your traveling salespeople take a bunch of logo cookies with them as fun leave behind gifts.
As winter is here (and probably only going to get worse), now is the perfect time to pass out winter-specific promotional items. Ice scrapers are always welcome promo items, especially when they come with a glove attached to the end.
And speaking of gloves, they also make welcome promotional gifts during the cold weather. Kits like the Keep Warm Buddy Set come with gloves, a scarf, and a cap to make sure that you and your customers stay warm throughout the season.
You were probably wondering why we decided to feature the Christmas Bird Count on our calendar this year. Well, after randomly stumbling upon it from a Google search, we thought that it was so interesting we had to include it. The Christmas Bird Count is when thousands of volunteers go out and literally count the early winter bird population. Data collected from the counters is analyzed and helps with bird conservation.
So why not hand out some promotional bird feeders and then encourage your customers and employees to go count some birds? It’s certainly a team building experience you’d never forget!

Huh! GF-baking week? I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled. My girlfriend, aka, “Cookie Monster” is gluten-intolerant, and I can’t even imagine how frustrating that must make the holiday season for her. Hopefully some GF-free recipes will pop up thanks to it. Here’s hoping, and thanks for bringing it to my attention!
Wait…wha?!? BACON DAY?!? Uh, yeah. Definitely will be celebrating that one.
I found a cookie recipe from this blog a few months ago. The particular one I used had gluten, but the blog then pivoted to be gluten-free recipes only. Hopefully you and your girlfriend can find some gluten-free recipes!
And yes! BACON DAY! I may have to celebrate at every meal.
It’s a good thing QLP is prepared for Monkey Day promos!
Wow! We have a lot of choices for having an awesome Monkey Day promo! One of those plush monkeys would be adorable!
Excuse me?!!??! There is a BACON day???? How have gone through life not knowing that I could be celebrating a day dedicated to bacon. Thanks for the info Mandy!!
I just found out about this beautiful day when I was researching this blog! Knowing all of the bacon lovers at QLP, I knew I had to include it!
Wow, they really do have days/weeks dedicated to everything! And I’m just NOW learning about Bacon Day and Chocolate Covered Anything Day?! Well, to counter this injustice, I definitely plan on making up for lost time this year! Hmm, now, chocolate covered bacon, would that be awesome or horrible? Well, while I ponder the mysteries of the universe, I hope you all have a happy December and all relevant observances contained within! Thanks for the informative and fun post, Mandy!
One of the bigger regrets in my life:
My girlfriend and I were leaving the Wisconsin Dells, after spending a few days vacationing there. On the way out, she stopped to buy some fudge from a confectioner. This store also sold chocolate-covered bacon. Shelley asked if I wanted any.
“Aww, no,” I replied.
Sigh. Famous last words, my friends.
Eric, I made this same mistake myself!
Last year I took a day trip to Galena with my mom. As we were checking out at a specialty foods store, she asked if I wanted to split some chocolate covered bacon with her.
I SAID NO.
That choice haunts me still.
All of the bacon and chocolate covered things!!!
FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US!
Human Rights Day is an important one, too. Christmas is cool and everything, but it really overshadows some good awareness dates…
Thanks for the info!
I love Christmas! But you’re right. December is pretty much exclusively Christmas and the other dates get pushed to the side. Maybe since they’re 15 days away there’s room for both this year?
December is my favorite winter month!! For me, all of December is Christmas basically. Parties, food, music, lights, gifts, I love it all!! I am also looking forward to the first snow…..aww yeah!!
December is my favorite winter month as well. It’s cold, but not bitter cold yet. And all of the holiday lights are going up. I just love it!
Apparently December gets all the awesome awareness dates! Cookies, monkeys, chocolate, Christmas, New Year’s, books, baking — my goodness. And that’s not to mention important stuff like human rights and AIDS awareness. Also, I want that monkey bank so bad!!
December does have a lot of cool stuff!
And I also want that monkey bank. Once I saw that Monkey Day fell in December, I knew right away that it and the bank were going to be featured on the calendar. Who could resist such a cute promo item?!
I’m hoping all of us have our promotions set already. If not, that should be done soon because the December holidays are all but here. I know I’m ready to go.
There’s still time, but hopefully most people are ready to go. Have anything particularly exciting planned?
