It’s time for me to learn to accept this whole blog thing…. Yeah, we can no longer get away with just a tweet here or there, adding a new photo to our Facebook fan page before lunch, or posting an editorial article or two on a popular forum when we can- we’re “officially” taking the plunge, and I’m glad that you (no really “you”!) are here for the ride.
At the time of writing this, I’m officially 121 days PAST DUE my original deadline for this post. Better late than never right? Anyway, despite my phobia towards writing, I have to admit, I’m kind of excited about getting this started. I personally think this whole Web 2.0 thing is overrated. I’m sure you’ve all heard it before:

- Use Twitter to Earn New Business
- Everyone is on (INSERT THIS WEEK’S SOCIAL NETWORK FLAVOR OF THE MONTH HERE); So Must You
I personally couldn’t justify participating in ANY of these social nets unless it was the REAL me – “Will the real Quality Logo Products please stand up!” Seriously though, I catch myself having a hard time NOT ripping out the little stubble I call hair on my head each time an email or invitation to a Webinar on how to use social networks to market to your customers makes its way across my inbox. I receive at least two emails on this topic DAILY.
With that being said, let me tell you what you can expect from this blog and what it’s NOT going to be. For starters, I’m not going to be spamming our own blog with fake customer case studies, product reviews, or any of what has become the “norm” (9 out of the 10 competitor blogs I read before finishing this post did nothing more than MERCILESSLY plug their “wares” in EVERY SINGLE POST). Instead I’m going to try and give you an inside look as to what it’s like to be intimately involved in a growing promotional products distributorship and the trials and tribulations a young entrepreneur often encounters on a DAILY basis.
I’m sure not EVERYTHING I blog about will be interesting, noteworthy, or drop your pants exciting – but it’s that 1 post out of the 1,000 I hope you squeeze out before cardiac arrest catches up with me that maybe helps someone from getting screwed by “the man” that makes it all worthwhile. Like – did you know that QuickBooks Professional has a hard coded limit on the number of records you can create (Intuit defines “records” very loosely!) before it just flat out stops working? No warning, no notice, it just bombs – not cool. It’s moments like this that I hope to help others avoid through my random musings on this blog.
To our loyal customers – I hope this blog serves as a medium for which we can interact with each other on a deeper level. If anything, this blog is a GREAT way to let us know how we’re doing. If your upset about something, let me know. Everyone has got skeletons in their closet so why not share them with everyone on the Internet – it’s the latest thing. Dr. Phil here I come!
Alright, if there is a word count limit for blog posts I’m sure I’ve exceeded it. I hope the blog Gods show me mercy, I’m popping my blog cherry for the first time today – cut me some slack, and to those who’ve actually gotten this far down on the page – aren’t you supposed to be doing something productive like NOT reading this post?
