The Justice League of Promotional Products: Empower Your Giveaways!

We’re all aware that there is a distinct line between professional and nerdy, and sadly, we’re rarely allowed to cross it. So while there are lots of blatantly nerdy promotional products out there, unless you own a comic book store, it might not be practical to hand them out for your business.

I feel your pain. I’ve held many jobs where I had to reel in my nerd for the sake of “propriety.” But never fear, I’ve found some products that can expand your brand and your nerdiness. There are tons of professional-looking products that have names or uses that will keep any DC fan smiling to herself.

Any fan of the Man of Steel knows how important it is to keep your work essentials close. So while Clark Kent wears his Superman outfit under his work clothes, you can carry your important files in the Metropolis Meeting Tote. With all of those pockets and zippers, you can store business cards, pens: whatever you need to save the day and land a new client.

Krypton Pen

The Krypton Pen could stop competitors in their tracks.

If you need to render the competition powerless, though, I recommend the Krypton Pen. They come in as many colors as there are forms of Kryptonite, and the bright colors will catch anyone’s eye. Act fast, though, because we just had a large order from guy named Lex.

And wouldn’t it be great to transform anything in our minds into a giant mass of green energy like Green Lantern? While you might not have a green power ring (though if you do, let’s talk!), you can always shed new light on the situation with a Lantern Light. Try the clear lantern with a green imprint for maximum nerdiness.

A promotion that needs an air of mystery and intrigue could use the dark Knight Stainless Travel Mug. With all the looks of Bruce Wayne and the power of Batman, this is the ultimate drink holder. Your future clients will have their eyes transfixed on your logo as they try to determine where they have seen that chiseled mug before.

Events where you need to keep track of volunteers or participants will be indestructible when you use the Adult Size Neoprene Promo Bands. These fun wrist bands will launch your brand to Amazonian heights and deflect all the competition. Order them in Gray to become the next Wonder Woman of promotion.

Does your business have an aquatic association? The Tropical Fish Stress Ball is a must. These squeezie fish are just about as cute as the fact that the Justice League still lets Aquaman come to meetings. Get one of every color to line up on your desk to ward off any underwater threats.

Who doesn’t need to add a little magic to their day? Grab your morning, mid-morning, and afternoon coffee in the White Magic Mug. Feel as magical as Zatanna Zatara when a picture appears above your logo – just make sure you say “Eeffoc” first.

Green Arrow and Black Canary

Why you should marry green and black on your logo pens!

Focus and aim are both essential to successful marketing campaigns, so use an Arrow Click Pen to start jotting down one of your own. The Green Arrow himself couldn’t find a sleeker, finer pen in all of Star City. The pen clip hooks to your pocket so you can fight crime or business meetings with both hands.

Sadly, the Canary Pen does not come in black. But the ink does, and you can be signing deals faster than the Black Canary’s cry can render someone unconscious. Still not swayed? Purchase the green colored Canary Pen and match it with a black imprint to create a canonical and promotional match. Green Arrow and Black Canary are married in many of the DC comics, which further illustrates how well black and green go together.

So lament no longer, DC fans: there are promotional products that will let you embrace your inner nerd while also keeping a professional edge. Just the sheer knowledge that you have incorporated geekiness into a successful promotion is enough to put a bounce in anyone’s step. Still a little bummed that you couldn’t geek out to the fullest extent? Keep in mind that even superheroes have to have secret identities.

Feel empowered to put a little more geek in your promotion? Are there any other promo products with a nod to the Justice League? Do you Marvel fans feel cheated?

Wow I am impressed – a promotional product for the core members of the Justice League!!! That is a skill you can put on a resume. GREAT job Mandy. Not to nitpick but it is the Fanboy in me. You forgot Martian ManHunter and The Flash (could have used some of the “flash” drives that we have) ;-D

    Great job nonetheless

    • Mandy Kilinskis

Feel free to nitpick. And trust me, I really tried to find something for Martian ManHunter, but none of my search keywords delivered results. And as for the Flash…I just neglected the poor guy. I’m sure that I’ll pay for that later.

I love, love, love this post Mandy!! Great job!! I’m sure finding products for every comic character was no easy job, but your product selection made perfect sense! The White Magic Mug is so cool, and a great promotional product to highlight :)

    • Mandy Kilinskis

After finding the White Magic Mug, I really would like one of my own. The magic of color change does not fade with age!!

  3. Jana Quinn

Delightful! You can even mention the name of the tote when you hand it to prospective clients; it’s a like a secret handshake that could a stellar icebreaker. If there’s no recognition there, you haven’t outed yourself as a nerd and business can proceed as usual. Promotion – especially using customized products – is all about being MEMORABLE, and these product titles are a a great way to spark conversation.

Also, “Reel in My Nerd” needs to be an album name.

    • Mandy Kilinskis

Good point, Jana! I would definitely make sure I mentioned the name of the Metropolis tote bag while handing it out. The conversation it would spark would definitely be memorable!!

      And it absolutely does.

I’d never come across the Neoprene Promo Bands until now. Those are quite nifty, and ideal for just about any promotion. Cool find!

    This is my favorite:

“These squeezie fish are just about as cute as the fact that the Justice League still lets Aquaman come to meetings.”

So true — and so sad. Aquaman gets such a bad rap. Maybe when he gets his own big-budget film adaptation he’ll get the respect he deserves. Then again, I’ve never even seen an Aquaman comic? Are they even any good? Or is he pretty much as useless as everyone makes him out to be?

In any case, awesome post, Mandy! Great product recommendations! :)

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I have a feeling that they are going to reboot Spider-man five more times before they even consider an Aquaman movie. There are Aquaman comics, but I’ll be honest, I haven’t read any. For all I know, he could be a lot cooler than we all think. Or not.

      • JPorretto

There was a big budget Aquaman movie! Unfortunately it was a fictional one on Entourage… but still.

        • LK

I was trying to think of why I thought there was an actual Aquaman movie!
          …ahh Entourage!

    • Vern-Matic

There are Aquaman comics but he is only cool when he guest stars in other peoples comics. In his own comics he is as useless as people make him out to be. In others he is pretty bad ass.

  5. Jenna

Great post, Mandy — this was funny and interesting to read! “These squeezie fish are just about as cute as the fact that the Justice League still lets Aquaman come to meetings.” Haha! :D

I’d never heard of some of those heroes, but the ones that I did know coupled perfectly with some awesome promo products!

    • Mandy Kilinskis

Thanks, Jenna! I’ve become acquainted with a lot of QLP’s offerings from this blog. I imagine that my Marvel version will find even more!

    • Amanda

I agree Jenna! This post was cute and clever! =)

  6. Juliette

I’m right there with you on reeling in the geek, Mandy! (though mine tends to leak out in weird ways. Like a TARDIS usb hub and small Joker bust among other bits of geekery on my desk)

I love how you found promo products to relate to the members of the Justice League (even if the only one of them I really like is Batman). Any chance of a followup post using the villains of the DC Universe? This Joker fan would love to see what you come up with!

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I’m already working on a Marvel-themed version of this post, but I can certainly try a DC villains, too!

      P.S. I want a TARDIS USB hub.

      • Juliette

Ooo…looking forward to the Marvel post! (I do love a few certain Marvel characters)

And the TARDIS hub came from ThinkGeek.com. :) (it is pretty cute! http://flic.kr/p/a1rv5e)

  7. JPorretto

This is a delightfully geeky post. I was a big Superman fan as a kid and LOLed probably more than I should of at that customer named Lex joke…

  8. Kyle

That White Magic Mug is awesome! And I agree with Jeff, the Lex joke was well played. Looking forward to a part two with Marvel characters! Marvel > DC, in my opinion. Just sayin’. =)

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I’m a fan of both DC and Marvel, but I gotta say, I like DC’s heroines way more than Marvel’s.

  9. Tony Promo

    Wow…. just… wow.

  10. Jill Tooley

What a cute post! Batman is my favorite DC character, so I’d be all over that Knight Stainless Travel Mug. Can you picture it with the bat symbol on it? Because I can…

When is the Justice League movie coming out? There were rumors about a 2013 release, but I have no idea if that’s correct or not. I hope they don’t get sucky actors to play the parts!

I didn’t realize that Black Canary and Green Arrow were married in the comics; you’re right, black and green DO go well together. :)

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I absolutely can. It would look awesome with a bat imprint.

The Justice League movie is now rumored to be coming out in summer 2014 – a year after the Avengers movie. I don’t mind waiting another year, I’m just glad it’s happening. DC licensed out the Superman and Batman film franchises, so I’m interested in seeing how that’s all going to work out.
