Designed for convenient transport, the personalized Carabiner Flip Pen clips easily onto key chains, belt loops, and purse straps. You might even be able to clip it onto thin briefcase handles. That not only makes the Carabiner Flip Pen well designed to be distributed on its own, but it makes a great accessory item to clip onto a promotional key chain or tote. However, the clip is fairly small, an ellipse that’s just under 1” x ½”, so take that into consideration if you’re looking for a joint promotion with another customized product. The grip is soft, which makes writing comfortable, but it picks up dirt very easily because it’s got a tacky surface (not sticky, per se, but tacky). Luckily, all grips are black and the bit that shows up can be cleaned off with a wet nap (or you can lick your finger if you’re low tech). The imprint area is fairly small (1/2” x 1 ½”), but still offers plenty of room for a logo and phone number/web address.

The pen flips open on the opposite side of the imprint and offers a soft grip section for comfort during writing. Although the grip unscrews to reveal the ink cartridge, it’s such a small cartridge that you would be unlikely to find a refill. The pen is therefore useful but has a limited life span. The colors available are Metallic Silver, Metallic Red, Metallic Blue, and Metallic Green, which can be pretty well matched to various team and organization colors with creative imprint ink selections.

Although not as inexpensive as a Streamline Stick Pen, the minimum order quantity is far lower, and the gel ink included in the Carabiner Flip Pen leaves a much crisper mark than a standard ball point. Because this pen is thicker than an ordinary stick pen and has the unique carabiner attachment, it is less likely to be stuck in a pen cup and forgotten.
