The Good: Wide mouth admits ice cube, curved body for easy grip, affordable.
The Bad: Spout difficult to open/close, thin construction, limited colors.
The Bottom Line: There’s no denying that the personalized Illusion Sport Bottle looks great and gets the job done, but for true quality in daily use, you may be better off with a polycarbonate bottle.
Design (6/10): (top)
There’s no doubt that the custom Illusion Sports Bottle is a good-looking product. On the side of the clear version, your logo will pop and be seen clear through to the other side. The curvy body is not only a sleek look, but it also makes the bottle easy to hold. However, the plastic is very thin (it can be easily cut with a pair of scissors) and the temperature of the liquid inside easily translates to your hand, so be careful of very cold or very hot liquids.
Features (7/10): (top)
One drawback of the personalized Illusion Sports Bottle is that it’s only available in clear and blue. While the clear version with black top offers the most flexibility (in terms of not worrying about clashing), the only other color available is a translucent blue. You can pair either of these colors with a blue, silver, black, or clear cap, but the fact that there are so few base colors available may incur more setup fees if you want all of your school, business, or team colors on your bottle. Also, the spout is very difficult to open and close. A few positive points are that the lid unscrews easily, and that the wide mouth will allow you to drop ice cubes, a freezer stick or even smaller promotional items inside. It may not be the best water bottle on the market, but it does make a very efficient and affordable tool for handing out at different events.
Price (7/10): (top)
The promotional Illusion Sports Bottle – on sale or not – is priced around a few dollars each. Considering that this could be a daily use item (even if it just means it sits in a cupboard that gets opened daily), that’s a great deal. Again, though, a polycarbonate bottle is a better quality product, but they do tend to cost a bit more, depending the volume you’re looking for.
Overall, the Illusion Sports Bottle is bound to remind you of that t-shirt you never wear but can’t bear to throw away. It would be unfair to say this is a useless product because it does have many fine features, but the shortcomings are relatively obvious and can be easily solved by buying a virtually indestructible polycarbonate bottles. However, if you’re looking to save a few cents and don’t mind chilly fingers, the Illusion Sports Bottle can get the job done.
