Walmart Has Earned My Loyalty, but Can You Do the Same?
I love having selection and variety in my life—especially when it comes to shopping. As you all know by now, I’m pretty cheap and I don’t shop a lot. But I actually do like to shop for things my family needs, like household items and groceries. One of my biggest pet peeves (and I don’t have many!) is going to a store and feeling like I’m not being offered enough of a selection. This has happened to me countless times and I hate it, so I decided a while back that I am not putting myself through that anymore. I’ve found the solution and am now loyal to one particular store: Walmart.
I know, Walmart is a controversial store. People either love it or hate it. But for me, it’s all love for this big blue chain store, and I’ll tell you why!
I LOVE being able to carefully choose the products I buy from week to week, and I find Walmart to have the best of all that I look for—location, selection, and price.
Location: According to a recent study, 90% of Americans live within 15 miles of a Walmart—and thank goodness that includes me. I am about 4 miles from our Super Walmart and I am thrilled about that! I can go there whenever I need something and not have to drive very far. Plus, it’s very close to a lot of other retail stores, so it’s even more convenient.
It’s all about the selection!
Selection: Another thing I love about this business is their selection. I get to choose what brand, color, size, flavor, or scent I want to buy something in. I refuse to choose from the two brands I dislike and then have to pay more for it, from here on out. Our local, smaller stores leave me wanting more and I hate that. Every time I try to give another store a chance, I end up regretting it later. I think: “Store ABC will be fine, I’ll just run in and grab the few items I need, and I’ll be glad that I didn’t drive another 2 miles to get to Walmart.” Nope. Never happens that way. I always, always regret it unless I go there.
Price: To top it all off—Walmart’s prices are amazing! They beat out all other stores in our area for just about every item I buy. And now, they will even match other stores’ prices and will take competitor coupons. Yeah, for a “couponer” like me, that’s heavenly to my ears! I can now bring in all coupons and sale ads and get the absolute best price on everything I buy. Yes!
I love that I can enter a Walmart and get everything I need at a great price. I can pick up a package of socks, laundry detergent, all of our groceries, dog food, that new DVD we’ve been thinking about buying, a prescription, light bulbs, makeup, and on and on. This is why I love the store. I can get every product I want, in the size and scent I like, and never leave feeling like I should have gone somewhere else. Never.
To me, Walmart is like a good friend that’s always there for you. Our local store is open 24 hours a day, and has recently been remodeled—bonus!
For businesses to succeed, and gain loyal customers, they should think about embodying the same qualities Walmart has:
- Good selection of products/services that prove valuable to consumers
- A special something that draws in new customers and keeps old customers loyal
- Prices people view as a good value
- Good customer service and care
