December 2011 Holidays, Observances, and Awareness Dates: Plan Your Promotions!

For some people, December means lots of happy celebrations and gift giving. For others, it’s a string of stressful parties with their in-laws. Regardless of which side you fall on, the holidays are in full swing. This means that holiday promotions and corporate gifts will probably be your focus.

But there are still a handful of awareness days and weeks this month. With Tolerance Day and Human Rights Week, equality is definitely an important theme. You can celebrate Letter Writing Day and National Write a Business Plan Month by passing out writing utensils. Honor National Made in America Month by purchasing promotional items and corporate gifts made in our home country.

Here’s what else is going on this month (click to enlarge):

December 2011 Holidays, Observances, and Awareness Dates

I’m sure you’re thinking, “Really? Ice Cream Day?” But we like ice cream, and so do a lot of people, so handing out ice cream products during December will definitely help you stand out at tradeshows.

If you’re unsure about the ice cream, promotional items for winter months will definitely be appreciated this month. Anyone that sees snowfall or cold temperatures during the season could use an ice scraper, embroidered scarf, or coffee mug. We’ve also expanded our selection of ornaments this year, so you can imprint your logo on those and pass them out to both employees and valued customers.

Don’t forget that 2012 is right around the corner! Ring in the new year right with some custom champagne flutes or noise makers.

Did any of the promotional products featured on the calendar strike your fancy? You can find them on our website here: Ice Cream Scoop-it, Small Ice Scraper with Visor Clip, and Star Ornaments.

As always, we’re here to help you plan your perfect December promotion. So if you’re ready to embark on your giveaway journey, contact one of knowledgeable Quality Logo Products representatives. You can contact them by phone (866-312-5646), by e-mail (, via live chat, or leaving a comment below!

I’m going to guess that you’re looking forward to the holidays, so are there any other dates you’re looking forward to this month? Did we miss any exciting or important ones? And if anyone is looking to get this blogger a present, I’d love any of these adorable stress balls.

Oh man, Letter Writing Day would be super classy with that pen set! You would probably feel super awesome writing with those!

That is a great infographic – do you have those for every month?

In thinking about ice cream (I mean, who doesn’t?!), if the tradeshow is in Florida or LA it might not be so radical, however, I suppose it would then also lose some of it’s “stand-out-iveness” as well.

Being more of a finance guy, I suppose I should figure out how to work with Business Plan month. Who comes up with these things?!

    • Mandy Kilinskis

      Morning, David!

We do a calendar post every month, and we do include similar calendars, too.

The ice cream products could lose the stand-out-iveness, or maybe they’ll shine as everyone else hands out flip flop keychains – who knows?! Sometimes the tagline can make all the difference!

I also have no idea who comes up with these things. I just google like a madwoman to find them!

Letter Writing Day, how cool! That also fits pretty well with the tolerance/human rights holidays, if you’re writing letters to your Congresspeople, for example. As Sam suggested, the holiday also sounds like a great opportunity to give out pens, or even stationery or notepads.

And hooray ice cream!!!! I will take any excuse to celebrate ice cream, no matter how cold it might be outside. 🙂

    • Mandy Kilinskis

      That’s a fantastic idea, Rachel! I think I know what I will doing from December 7 – 10!

  3. Amanda

To me December is all about Christmas gatherings with family, holiday music, decorating, and sipping hot chocolate while watching Christmas movies! I love the whole month–to me, all of December is basically just Christmas! LOL I love this month! But I am glad to see there are a few other cool sounding reasons to celebrate!

    • Mandy Kilinskis

December is one of my most favorite months, too! I hope that there are lots of holiday promos making their way out there this season! There’s gotta be some great thank you gifts!

  4. Eric

December 13th? “Ice Cream Day?” Pssh. Every day should be ice cream day. Reminds me that it’s that time of year again when they sell the ice cream with peppermint pieces in it. I’m not a big fan of candy canes, or peppermint ice cream, but man, with their powers combined…

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I like candy canes, but I agree with you that the ice cream with the pieces in it is so much better. I’m not sure what makes it so dang tasty, but I look forward to it almost as much as I look forward to Caramel Brulee Lattes each year.

  5. Alex Brodsky

We should have an inter-office Ice Cream Social on December 13th!

  6. Jen

I didn’t know there were so many more days to celebrate in December other than Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I love there is a letter writing day, it’s so fun! I enjoy writing every once and a while, it’s a nice change from typing all day. Maybe I will had write some Christmas cards that day!

And I agree with Eric, I don’t need a special day to celebrate ice cream-every day is ice cream day to me. 🙂

Great calendar Mandy, thanks for the info!
