Techie Promo Items to Say Thank You on IT Appreciation Day

This summer, we celebrated our first annual “IT Appreciation Day.” We all came together to thank our IT department, Josh and Jason, for all of their hard work keeping Quality Logo Products running on the front end and behind the scenes.

IT guys (and gals) put up with a lot from us technologically-challenged folk. If your IT department has had any experiences similar to Roy and Moss on The IT Crowd, then they are more than deserving of a reward. Here’s a clip from the show to show you what a day in the life of your IT department might be like:

From simple problems that only require turning it off and turning it back on again to fatal server errors, your IT crew has your back. You can choose to show them your appreciation by taking up a collection for gift cards, or you can order some of these cool gadgets fit for any IT crowd or techie.

mouse pad calculator

Mouse Pad/Calculator USB Hub

Mouse Pad/Calculator USB HubThere’s no denying the fact that your IT department needs the best of the best when it comes to mouse pads. They’ll also need a calculator for figuring out how many gigawatts (Watts? Hertz? Megabytes?) the servers can handle before they explode, or how many hours of overtime they’ve worked. Not to mention how many USB powered devices they have to plug in. This tech-savvy promo item has it all!

wireless mouse hub

Rechargeable Wireless Mouse with 4-Port Hub

Rechargeable Wireless Mouse with 4-Port HubAny one dealing with computers has enough wires to worry about. You can eliminate one with this wireless mouse. It also allows your IT crew to take their mouse on the go, and they won’t have to worry about their mouse running out of power because this one can be recharged! If that wasn’t enough to sell you, imagine how happy your team will be when they gain four more USB ports.

flexible keyboard

Flexible Waterproof Keyboard

Flexible Waterproof KeyboardWhile we’re on the subject of portable, convenient computer accessories, let’s talk about this foldable keyboard. Your IT guys can take it on the road by simply folding it up and tossing it in their laptop bag. Or they can fold it up at their desk to make more room when they’re busy fixing a computer, or troubleshooting the phone system and don’t need a keyboard. Plus, they don’t have to worry about spilling Code Red on it!

puzzle usb hub

Puzzle USB Hub

Puzzle USB HubThe Mouse Pad/Calculator USB Hub and Rechargeable Wireless Mouse with 4-Port Hub sure are cool…but this one is a PUZZLE! For an IT department that likes to unwind and have a little fun, this USB hub can be twisted and turned into different shapes. So while this hub isn’t occupied by iPods, speakers, mouses (mice?), and any other USB powered device you can think of, it can be a fun toy.

3D Flash Drive

3-D USB Flexi-Drive 2.0

3-D USB Flexi-Drive 2.0 I know there’s a couple of USB drives/hubs on this list already, but I couldn’t resist one more! These USB drives are awesome because you can have them customized into literally any shape you want. These are an excellent way to incorporate some of your IT guys’ other interests into a techie gift. Plus, unique shapes are a much more fun way to store 2 GB of data.

laptop stress ball

Sleek Laptop Squeezie

Sleek Laptop Stress Ball Fixing internet connections, keeping design software running, and making sure the servers don’t go up in flames is stressful. You can help your IT department unwind with these cool laptop stress balls. Or if your company is still a little behind on the times, you can get one of these old school computer stress relievers if they more accurately represent your current state of affairs. (And if that’s the case, you may want to show your IT department some extra love!)

computer accessory kit

Techie Computer Accessory Kit

Techie Computer Accessory KitThis computer accessory kit is the mother of all techie promo items. You ready for this laundry list of cool features? This kit includes: a 1 GB USB flash drive, a headset with microphone, a male-to-female USB adapter cable, a mini USB adapter cable, a numeric keypad, a retractable mini-mouse, an RJ-45 ethernet cable, and a six-way adapter. If you don’t even know what some of those things are, that’s okay. That just means it’s the perfect gift for members of your IT crew!

While any IT professional will love these tech-tastic promo items, it is possible that they have other interests besides computers, so you may consider going in that direction. Either way, by showing your IT department some love you can keep them from turning into this snarky, rude character from SNL: “Nick Burns, Your Company’s Computer Guy.

Have you been showing your IT department enough appreciation? Which of these techie products do you think someone in IT would like the most? Can you think of any other gifts fit for the IT crowd?

  1. Bret Bonnet

I think EVERY IT person should be given a Flexible Keyboard for those long and lonely nights… 🙂

  2. Mandy Kilinskis

I really like the Puzzle USB Hub. I don’t work in IT, but I would really enjoy having the different hubs and being able to twist the hub into cool, different puzzles.

    But great choices, Jenna! 🙂

    • Jenna Markowski

I love the Puzzle USB Hub too, Mandy!

      Thanks! 😀

      • Eric

I third this motion!!! Seems like today’s computers just never have enough of them, and then you’re left to decide which accesory is more important than the next. The added flexbility – being able to actually use all the USB ports – makes this one of the most useful items, that’s for certain (sorry, but them’s the brakes, Mr. Lobster USB Flexi-Drive).

  3. Rachel

A mousepad/calculator combo? With glowing keys? Snazzy! These are all fun ideas, Jenna. 🙂

Also, the IT Crowd has been on my to-watch list for a while. But I didn’t realize the guy from Bridesmaids was in it! Extra incentive right there. Clearly I need to watch the show so that I can better appreciate IT departments around the world … 😉

  4. Amy Swanson

Holy moly, that techie computer accessory kit is awesome! How cool that companies can order those imprinted with their company’s name or logo on it? Great picks here, Jenna!

  5. Eric

Street cred for the “Nick Burns” reference. Totally under-appreciated sketch, right there.
