March 2012 Holidays, Observances, and Awareness Dates: Plan Your Promotions!

Even if the temperature outside doesn’t feel like it, the calendar says that it’s time for spring. So put away those ice scrapers and wintertime promotions and make way for flowers and pastel colors.

Employees get special recognition on March 2nd, so if the holiday season was too busy for corporate gifts this year, this is the perfect time to say thank you. Whether it’s through pretty paperweights, or customized company hoodies, your employees will be tickled pink to receive a token of appreciation.

Take a look at our calendar to see what else is happening this month (click to enlarge):

March 2012 Holidays, Observances, and Awareness Dates

Doctors and dentists have special days this month, so why not have your office participate in a promotion? Dentists, toss an imprinted travel toothbrush into a bag with some floss and mouthwash samples. Doctors, add a simple first aid kit to your fistful of papers or medication samples.

Spread awareness about the health benefits of sleeping during National Sleep Awareness Week with adorable sheep stress balls or sleep masks. You can plan tons of healthy eating seminars during National Nutrition Month, and then pass out fruit or vegetable stress relievers as a reminder to eat well at home.

And of course, there is no party in March that’s bigger than St. Patrick’s Day. If you own a bar, perhaps it’s time to invest in some logo drinkware. Imprint some mugs, sell them, and give return clients discounts if they bring them back on their next visit. For smaller parties, consider a shot glass to commemorate the celebration.

Yes!!! I’ve been waiting all year for National 3.141592654 Day! I may have to take some time off to celebrate. 😀

    • Jaimie Smith

I always actually did like National Pi Day. I never understood why it has its own holiday, But I didn’t care because in high school math classes the teachers would bring in pie and let us eat it during the lesson. Can’t complain if you can eat free pie while learning killer calculus. 🙂

Oh and St. Pattys say…love it! I can’t wait to drink green beer out of a green mug! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I think there should be lots of pies in the office that day.

      Lots and lots of pies.

    • Jeff Porretto

This could also be known as “Jeff’s GPA day.” Yes, my GPA was Pi. What would be really impressive is if I MEANT to do that….

  2. Eric

My only hope is for Baker’s Square to hold some sort of tie-in promotion on the 14th…oh, wait. It’s on a Wednesday.

Pie Rush (i.e., “Free Pie) Wednesday!!!

    My wish has been granted.

    • Mandy Kilinskis

Oh man. My heart goes out to every single Baker’s Square employee that day.

But my love of free pie also makes me really excited.

      • Jenna Markowski

SWEET JESUS. Free pie on pi day?! THERE IS A GOD.

So let’s see, National Bubble Week = AWESOME! Me and my baby girl are going to go outside and blow all the bubbles we want! I think I might need that whole week off!
I feel like we should get a bonus or a paid day off for employee appreciation day! Although I would settle for a tray of cookies and brownies. And for make up your own holiday day…I’ve decided for me that will be “OMG my daughter is the cutest little girl in the world let’s go out and spend an obscene amount of money just to spoil her since her birthday and any other gift giving holiday is to far away day!” Yup I think that’s a pretty good holiday. I look forward to these posts every month to see what little known holidays and things I didn’t know about. Great job Mandy!

    • Mandy Kilinskis

Thanks, Candice! Your plans for March definitely sound pretty awesome.

And you’d be surprised at the random collection of days I find while researching for these posts. The dates reflected here are probably only 1/15 of the selection. There are some wacky holidays. 🙂

  4. amy

I think at the end of March I’ll be celebrating, “Amy gets a newer car day”. I’ve had it in my mind for a few months now that I’d buy a car in March, and your post is a sign that now it’s time- or at least that’s how I’m seeing it 😉

    Fun post, Mandy!

    • Mandy Kilinskis

That sounds like a fantastic “make your own holiday” day! And I’m a big fan of March, so I support your endeavors! 😉

  5. Alex Brodsky

This calendar is great, but it completely forgets one of the greatest events of the year: MARCH MADNESS, BABY!!!

    Go Tarheels!

  6. Jen

Pi Day, I get it 3.14 on 3/14. Clever.

    • Mandy Kilinskis

It was so fun in high school to see the math teachers get all excited about it.

  7. Bret Bonnet

    Shamrok shake time baby!

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I like to go half shamrock and half chocolate. Thin Mint cookies as a shake. Mmm.

      • amy

Mind. Blown. WHHHHHAT?!?!?! This is being tried ASAP

  8. Rachel

Lots of cool holidays this month — I think I like National Sleep Awareness Week and National Craft Month the best. Can I spend all of March sleeping and being crafty? That sounds fun. Thanks as usual for the calendar, Mandy! Like Candice, I always look forward to these. 🙂

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I knew a liked March for a reason, and both National Sleep Awareness Week and National Craft Month are pretty awesome. I plan to celebrate accordingly.

P.S. Let’s not forget the most important holiday this month. *cough* my birthday *cough*

      • Rachel

It’s the most important holiday of all!!!
