November 2011 Holidays, Observances, and Awareness Dates: Plan Your Promotions!

Once you settle down from the sugar rush of Halloween, it’s time for November. For most Americans, this month starts with leftover candy, ends in turkey, and has a whole bunch of raking in between. Luckily, there are lots of great days to break up the monotony of bagging leaves.

Staying healthy is a huge focus this month. National Care Week, Vaccine Awareness Week, American Diabetes Month, and so many more make promotion from hospitals, clinics, and doctor’s offices practically necessary. Now that school is into full swing, education is also an emphasis. With International Students Day, American Education Week, and Geography Awareness Week, you can’t go wrong with academic promotions.

Show your love for the environment this month by picking promotional products that are eco-friendly. We have plenty of items that are recyclable and/or reusable, so if you didn’t manage to promote during Earth Day, America Recycles Day is your chance. If you pick an eco-friendly writing utensil, you can also support creativity with National Novel Writing Month. Do you own a business? Help drive your Black Friday sales by offering custom tote bags to the first two hundred people that check out.

I’m pretty excited about World Television Day, even though it’s a Monday I’ll celebrate hardcore after 5 LOL

As for my favorite Thanksgiving Day food I gotta go with Green Bean Casserole, oh but stuffing is really good (regular Stovetop, none of that “fancy schmancy” stuff with nuts or cranberries) and mashed potatoes (with lumps). Shoot then there’s the actual turkey. I can’t decide, all of it is my favorite Thanksgiving Day food. And now I’m hungry for it all 🙁

World Television Day is going to be great! I just hope that they have a new episode of ‘Castle’ that night and it isn’t a repeat since it’s the same week as Thanksgiving!

And I just got really hungry for stuffing, too.

National Television Day, heck yeah! I think that day was made for me. Also, I really like your idea of a business handing out free tote bags to the first couple hundred customers on Black Friday. It’d be a great way to get more brand recognition!

Mmmm, Thanksgiving Day food … gotta love the pumpkin pie. But I’m also a big fan of turkey, mashed potatoes, and generous amounts of gravy all mushed together. Let’s be honest, everything about Thanksgiving is delicious. 🙂

I’ve only hardcore shopped Black Friday once, and I never want to do it again. However, I imagine that freebies might sooth the savage beasts.

I love all of those foods. My grandma almost makes this delicious monkey bread that I could eat all year round. Mmmm, Thanksgiving.

    • Amanda

I’m with you Rachel! I love Thanksgiving, and all the food combining that goes along with it. I put a little of everything on my plate, and it all runs together–yum! =)

Remember, remember the fifth of November… Yep, that’s one that I celebrate complete with Guy Fawkes mask and usually a showing of V for Vendetta. And Thanksgiving at my place is usually a crazy gathering of friends with lots of homecooked food and laughter.

As for Black Friday, I don’t leave the house that day. If I do any shopping it’s done online so I don’t have to fight the mob of folks trying to stampede for the best deals.

    • Mandy Kilinskis

I’ve celebrated Guy Fawkes Day just once! The semester I studied in France, my British friends invited me to celebrate with the burning of the Guy Fawkes doll and some fireworks. No idea where they got said fireworks, but it was fun nonetheless. 🙂

I’m with you about Black Friday. It terrifies me. I’m definitely a “place an order at midnight and go to sleep” kind of Black Friday shopper!

      • Amanda

I’ve been out shopping twice for Black Friday, and I too would never do it again. I scored a few good deals, but after standing in line for hours, and losing the sleep from waking up at 3am, it’s not worth it! If I do any Black Friday shopping, it will be online! =)

National Novel Writing Month?! Well, now I’ve got no excuse not to finish my 400 page epic about a young man who struggles to balance his love of PB&J with his debilitating Arachibutyrophobia (fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth).

    • Mandy Kilinskis

That sounds like a tearjerker! You need to finish that this month so that you can sell the rights to Hollywood and they’ll make a screen adaptation staring either Shia LaBeouf or Jesse Eisenberg. Clint Eastwood would play the peanut butter.

      • Jenna Markowski

Is it bad that I would probably pay money to see that movie? Haha

Great Calendar Mandy! I am so ready for Thanksgiving and Black Friday, this is the first year I will be able to partake in the madness for super awesome sales. I hear it’s super crazy! I’m not too sure what stores I will go to, but I’m thinking Old Navy, and maybe Target.

And I didn’t even know world television day even existed! It is television day every day for me though! LOL
