When most people think of promotional products, what comes to mind is the branded pen they were given by their real estate agent or the tote bag they snagged at a trade show. These items are useful when it comes to spreading the word about a business, and chances are you always remember whose logo is on your product. But for some, these items are more than just another marketing strategy. They can make all the difference in their everyday lives.
At Quality Logo Products®, we know firsthand the value promotional products can have on a community. From donating our excess stock to local homeless shelters to creating one-of-a-kind experiences for special needs children, we do whatever we can to help our community- one promo at a time.
Take a look at some of our favorite moments from 2018!
Anyone who lives in the Chicago suburbs knows exactly what we mean when we say Ribfest is a must for the summertime. Not only is it a blast, but proceeds raised from the event benefit the Exchange Club of Naperville, whose goal is to eliminate child abuse and domestic violence.
In 2018, we were proud to support Naperville’s Ribfest by partnering with them to create a one-of-a-kind experience for attendees. Everyone who showed up received a snazzy pair of custom sunglasses that were co-branded with the Naperville Exchange Club. Now, every time they go catch some rays, they’ll be promoting a local non-profit.
Hesed House Homeless Shelter
In addition to partnering with fun community events, we’re also proud to support local initiatives that are actively making a difference. At the beginning of the year, we provided custom coffee mugs to attendees of the Hesed House Champions of Hope Breakfast, a fundraiser that supports the homeless shelter. Each time a supporter uses their ceramic mug, they’ll be reminded of a cause that needs their assistance. These types of products are crucial for non-profits like this one that rely on donations to stay in operation.
The giving doesn’t stop there! Throughout the year, we donate our excess promotional products to the shelter as well. From fuzzy gloves to reusable water bottles, Hesed House gets plenty of use out of items we no longer need. Since the organization is doing incredible things, including serving nearly 1,000 individuals each year, it’s the least we could do to lend a helping hand.
Hope Chest Toy Drive
Something that was new for Quality Logo Products® in 2018 was our Hope Chest Toy Drive. This was an initiative we started in the Aurora, Illinois area to help support the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. The non-profit provides comfort to children and teens with cancer by offering them the special experience of selecting a toy or gift card from a treasure chest after each medical treatment at a hospital. We decided to drum up some extra support for the organization by hosting a community toy drive and were overwhelmed by the kindness of our neighbors.
Each business who participated received their own toy chest for their office or lobby to collect donations. The toy drive not only resulted in tons of toys and gifts for kids across the country, but it helped spread the word about an organization that needs all the help it can get. We get by with a little help from our friends!
Giving the Gift of Education
One of the biggest milestones of 2018 was the scholarship we created in partnership with North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Starting in 2019, undergraduate students majoring in entrepreneurship and small business management can apply for a $2,000 annual scholarship, courtesy of Quality Logo Products®. The owners of Quality Logo Products®, Bret Bonnet and Michael Wenger, got their start at the college, so they have always wanted to give back in a meaningful way. In fact, the scholarship is named after Dr. Gary Ernst, professor of international business and marketing emeritus at the college. Dr. Ernst was incredibly influential to Bret and Mike, so it was only fitting that they name the gift in his honor.
Holiday Express Special Needs Night
Each year, we donate cuddly teddy bears to Blackberry Farm in Aurora for their Holiday Express Special Needs Night. This year was no exception! The event celebrates the magic of wintertime, complete with a reindeer food bar and hay wagon rides, all while providing a low-sensory environment for children with special needs. The teddy bears are given out by Santa Claus himself, and our favorite thing in the world is how one small item can mage such a huge difference.
Not to toot our own horn, but this year was nothing short of amazing! Not only did we give back in a bigger and better way than the year before, but we made some serious waves in the promotional products industry. It’s difficult to say what 2019 has in store for Quality Logo Products®, but if 2018 was any indication, we’re sure it will be another one for the books!
