There's a slider on the barrel to use the pen, and during testing it worked very smoothly. There were no hang ups and the slider didn't get stuck in the down or up position. The LED light works in a similar fashion, but the slide was a little bit trickier to move up. The light is very bright and works great in smaller areas.
