Branding Beat - Cut Through the Noise

Welcome Kevin Cook to the Quality Logo Products Team [Interview]

Quality Logo Products® just keeps on growing, and I have to admit, it’s pretty awesome every time I see a new face. I’m pretty terrible with names, but that just means I get to talk to more people to get to know them a little better!

Speaking of new people, one of our newest sales reps is Kevin Cook. Even though Kevin only started working at Quality Logo Products® in December, he’s not new to the promo products industry, but more on that later. I recently spoke with Kevin and asked him a few questions about himself and what he thinks of Quality Logo Products® so far.

What do you like best about working in this industry?

I’m a graphic artist by trade. So I guess just the artwork. I like seeing and fixing stuff for print because most of the time the customers have no idea what they are printing. So fixing things to get it to work for them is awesome.

Do you have a favorite promotional item? If so, what is it?

I would say a stress ball because you can throw it.

Let’s throw you a curveball. If a customer called up looking for a nice but fairly inexpensive favor for a high school reunion, which product would you recommend?

I’m going to go with a pint glass because of nerves. Everyone needs a pint glass at a reunion when they are seeing people they haven’t seen in a while. Fill that sucker up!

What if, instead of a reunion, say it was a wedding?

I’m actually getting married in November so I should know this. I’d say anything eco-friendly. Seeds or planted flowers.

What’s been your favorite part about joining the Quality Logo Products® team?

The team and people that work here are fantastic. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever worked with a better group of people. They are so welcoming it almost makes me want to vomit. There’s just a really good energy here.

How do you spend your time when you’re out of the office?

Sit me down in front of my DVR, on my couch, and I’m cool. Just relax and catch up on shows.

What are some of your favorite shows?

Modern Family, Blackish, Project Runway Junior, and American Horry Story. I also like my 70s shows, too. I like Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley.

Anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

I have four dogs at home in Naperville. I’m actually new to this area. I’ve only been here three years. I grew up in Tinley Park and moved to the city for a little bit, and came out here for love. I just love this job. I’m not even sucking up. It’s very genuine.

As I said at the beginning, Kevin has been in the promo products industry for a long time – 20 years, actually. He worked for another distributor for about four years, and then in the art department at American Greenwood, one of our suppliers, before joining the Quality Logo Products® team. Welcome, Kevin!

Kyrsten Ledger

Kyrsten loves the great outdoors (as long as there's no snow on the ground), and spends a good amount of her free time traveling. When she isn't traveling, she's spending time with her family, reading a new book, or working on her next home improvement project. If she could live anywhere in the world, you'd find her moving into Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World.

Great to have you on the team Kevin! Honestly, you’ve only been here a few months and you fit in as if you’ve been here for years. Your clients are super lucky to have such a friendly, funny and caring account manager. I have a graphic design background too and it’s such a powerful skill to bring to the table to help your clients get the best possible imprints on their items. Pairing your skills with your personality you’ll be an instant success at QLP and we are so happy you’ve joined us!

  2. Jay

Welcome to QLP, Kevin! It is now official since you’ve been interviewed. I think you had the same reaction as everyone else here in terms of being welcomed. It didn’t make me want to puke, but hey, I can’t blame you for wanting to (seeing how you’re in THAT office! 😉

I will definitely bug you with Adobe Illustrator questions in the future. Incessantly. I just wanted to wait a little bit before I started annoying you. Haha!

Hey Kevin! Welcome to the team. Its good to have another AI master here to help out, I know i will need it!! I’ve seen your mad skills in action!

  8. Chase

Glad to have you on board with us Kevin! It’s pretty cool how you are coming in not just with experience in the field but also having an Adobe Illustrator background. It’s probably awesome how helpful that is to not only your efficiency with artwork but also how it allows you to provide a service to your customers that many just aren’t willing to or can’t because they lack the artistic knowledge and mindset to do it right. Wish you nothing but success here, see you around!

  9. PMO
