Get to know a bit more about Clara:

Clara Brubaker

Professional/Educational Background:

I graduated from NIU with a BFA in Illustration in 2018. I worked at a bookstore and as a screen printer before coming to Quality Logo Products®!

Position at Quality Logo Products®:

Assistant to the amazing Kelly Bird!

What was the last movie you saw in theaters? What did you think?

The last one I saw was Midsommar. It thoroughly spooked me, but I thought it was very thought-provoking and super pretty!

What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?

Just Dance for the Wii is my sport. The most fun kind of exercise, and you can do it all year round! It’s also really entertaining to watch your friends dance to the goofy choreography.

If you could join any past or current music group which would you want to join?

Probably a current group, tUnE-yArDs (yes that is the actual capitalization they use). They kind of defy genre and just seem like they just have so much fun making music and experimenting with sound (and looping machines… love).

Which fictional character would you want to meet in real life?

Definitely Cordelia Naismith from the Vorkosigan Saga, an under-read sci-fi series that is just stunningly well-written. She’s incredibly observant and her superpower is being able to see through any lies that the other characters tell themselves.  She would probably grace our conversation with lots of insight and witty one-liners.

What is your spirit animal, and why?

Probably a hedgehog; they’re just so stinkin’ cute! Plus, they’re always pictured as living in the forest among quaint fairy cottages and mushrooms, which sounds way up my alley.

If you had a time machine, which time period would you visit and why?

Probably Edo period Japan. The arts and culture were really flourishing at that time, plus it was supposedly one of the cleaner societies in history. (No scary old diseases for this gal)!

What’s the best Halloween costume you’ve ever had?

One year in middle school, I couldn’t decide between going as a hippie or a ghost, so I just went as a hippie ghost! The costume was super easy and involved some rainbow-colored fabric with John Lennon glasses. A close second is the jellyfish costume I made in college out of a big hat, cardboard, and lots of tulle.

If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?

I would love to instantly be a coding expert- there’s so much potential to create cool video games and virtual experiences with that skill! Or just having a knack for languages in general- being able to travel anywhere without needing a guide would be awesome!

Clara loves art in any form whether it be music, movies, books, costume design, or her own illustrations. Her insight into all things creative will give her an edge when creating designs for promotional products. We can’t wait to see what she will create at Quality Logo Products®!
