Give Your Brand a Hand: BlessedHeartCo September 2017
Most of us have hobbies that keep us sane during the work week or provide us with a sense of purpose. Whether it’s reading or doing crossword puzzles, it’s important to find an outlet that flexes your creative muscles. But for Tracy Fowler, creating children’s clothing is more than just a job or a part time hobby. It’s a way to express her gratitude and develop a legacy for someone who was incredibly important to her, while simultaneously giving back to those who need it most.
After losing her grandmother Edith to colorectal cancer earlier this year, Tracy’s life was forever changed. Though the loss of her grandmother left her with a profound level of sadness, she was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and felt the inspiration to create a business that would have made Edith proud: a clothing company that gives back each time it makes a sale.
BlessedHeartCo was chosen as the September 2017 winner for Give Your Brand a Hand because of Tracy’s never-ending dedication to improving the lives around her.
Give Your Brand a Hand is Quality Logo Products’ monthly giveaway, created with small businesses such as BlessedHeartCo in mind. Applicants who make less than $1 million in annual revenue and have fewer than 50 employees can enter for their chance at securing $500 in free promotional products. Our team hand-picks the recipients based on their organization’s mission and their answer to the question: “What would you do with $500 in promo items?”
Unique Pieces For a Cause
Created in memory of Tracy’s grandmother Edith, BlessedHeartCo is an Etsy shop that creates unique children’s clothing, always donating a portion of its sales to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Though Tracy only launched the shop in May of 2017, she has found great success and joy in creating children’s clothing for people all over the world.
It’s clear that Edith is the core inspiration between BlessedHeartCo’s mission and story. The clothing items themselves, however, are inspired by Tracy’s love for country music and rock and roll. As a child of the 80’s, Tracy has fond memories of leather pants and neon leggings. Though she’s not looking to recreate those fads, she certainly draws inspiration from that time in her life to create stylish items that are fun for children to wear.
“It’s a scary world. You don’t wake up to someone saying, ‘Hey, have a great day!’ That’s why I’m always trying to be positive.”
Whether it’s a dress or tank top, each article of clothing from BlessedHeartCo is completely unique. From hand sewing her grandmother’s buttons onto her clothing to her unique rock and roll inspiration, Tracy is dedicated to creating clothing that is more than something children can just wear to school or church. She wants her items to be hand-sewn gifts of love and kindness with personal hand-stitched touches in each article of clothing.
Turning a Negative Into a Positive
Tracy decided to turn the pain of her loss into a project that would make her grandmother Edith proud. By donating a portion of each sale to St. Jude’s, Tracy is proud to do what she can to make a difference in other people’s lives, which is exactly what Edith would have wanted her to do.
“Edith’s old residential phone number is the main business line for my company because I wanted to save every piece of her I could.”
Giving away a portion of her sales to St. Jude’s is personal for Tracy. With four children of her own, her heart aches for families whose young loved ones are affected by the same cancer that took her grandmother away. However, being able to make a difference, one article of clothing at a time, is something Tracy takes a great deal of pride in.
Though Tracy’s shop is online-only as of right now, she has big dreams for her future. Once her children are all in school and she has more time, she hopes to launch a storefront in her local community. Drawing on fond memories from her childhood, she wishes to create the special experience of young children walking into a clothing store and seeing their eyes light up while looking at fun outfits and designs. Children love picking out their own outfits, so why not make it fun?
Since BlessedHeartCo has such a unique story to tell and was created only a few months ago, Quality Logo Products really wanted to help grow their brand! Tracy selected tote bags to include in future online orders so her brand can reach a new audience.
“If you’re not putting yourself out there on the internet and you’re not networking with groups and putting your product on the market, no one’s going to see you.”
With online shopping being more popular than ever, it can be difficult to sort through the many online boutiques to find a brand that matches your style. By including unique touches like custom tote bags, BlessedHeartCo is sure to stand out from the crowd!
