It's regretfully difficult to provide an accurate estimate. The "how much" depends on the item being charged. This charger should be able to charge an iPhone at least once or twice, but to know for certain, we highly recommend ordering or requesting a sample first to make sure the product is to your liking.

What are the two buttons for?

The top "button" is not a button at all. It's a design element. It has no functional use. The larger square button below it is an on button. It will initiate charge after a device is connected. It will turn off automatically once a device is used to prevent energy loss.
