The Square Gel BeadsHot and Cold Pack makes a pliable, long-lasting, and very chilly cold pack after two hours in the freezer, as we found during product testing. As for the hot pack part of this, anyone who prefers a very warm pack might want to try boiling it according to the instructions, as microwaving it for 25 seconds only got ours warm (which is great if you need only a little heat). However, it retained that heat for well over an hour.
